About University of Dubuque

The University of Dubuque, or UD for short, is a Presbyterian university located in Dubuque, which is a city in the US state of Iowa, serving as the county seat of Dubuque County, with a population estimated at a number of more than 57 000 inhabitants, fact which makes it the eighth-largest city in the state, during the 2008 census.

UD was established in 1852 and it is one of the three four-year post-secondary institutions in the City of Dubuque. It offers both undergraduate and graduate degree programs and it has a general attendance of approximately 1600 students.

Athletics

UD's athletic teams are known as the Spartans and they compete in NCAA Division III, as part of the Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, in varsity sports which include soccer, basketball, volleyball, tennis and golf. Their distinctive colors are royal blue and white.
